Unfair! I’m grandma age, a faithful fan and have never bothered to write a complaint letter to a comic editor…although I think I might have when episodes of other favorites were pulled for being too political or risque. Too broad a brush, my talented friend.

I love my grandma! I love grandmas. I’m really talking about the ‘I read the comics page with my granddaughter. Think of the kids,’ thing that seems to be the basis of so many complaint letters. Trying to justify their own desire for sanitized comics when they could totally just say, ‘I don’t like it. It stinks. And my son remains disappointingly childless.’

Sorry if that didn’t come across clearly.

Darrin Bell of Candorville has addressed this issue. The newspaper the protagonist works at has occasional visits from the creator of a legacy strip. This individual is a rotting zombie. Bil Keane does not find this amusing.

Rutting like angry raccoons is a good image. Imagining Cory 1.0 and Robin 1.0 in that situation causes my eyebrows to spasm. I hope Robin 2.0 has a good time. Dana needs to get some Timbits and maple candy and get Kevin all hopped up while she’s gone.

Dana is a married woman, sir!

Yes, it seems to me that the comics section of traditional newspapers is way too sensitive to fringe complaints. It’d be interesting to know, though, how many of these crank letters are rejected.

If you’re looking for feedback, I found the purple background in Robin’s dialogue balloons to be too garish. Especially when combined with all the purple she’s wearing. Maybe that was why you did it, but it didn’t work for me. Anyway, this is NOT a fringe complaint, just some helpful (I hope) feedback; keep up the great work.

Inside story: When it was time to letter the second to last panel, I realized you couldn’t tell that Robin was talking. And it needed to be clear that Robin was talking, not Dana. I had to make sure her dialogue was distinct, so purple. Just a one time thing so the joke works.

Don’t worry. Constructive criticism is always welcome and helpful.

I’m still amazed you got away with Cory’s “Maybe this time you’ll do some of the work” to Robin 1.0 when she moved in with him and Omar. Or was I reading more into that than you intended?

Ha! You and I may be the only people who got that. I tried to sneak so much by back then that a lot of the jokes were incomprehensible. Innuendo wrapped in subtlety wrapped in misdirection. Good catch!

Dude, I am loving these comics…so much space for funny…Older folks remember their childhood reading of the comics but back then everything was toned way down…except Dick Tracy who would put a bullet through a villains head without blinking. You have to stay current!

I grew up reading Andy Capp getting drunk and smacking his wife around. Old comics were a combination of totally innocent with a twist of horrifying.

I’m grandfather generation. This is one of my favorite comics. And, yes, this strip, in some papers, would have had upset somebodies cancelling subscriptions. The purple balloons work for me and seem actually necessary this time.
I am having a problem with the jump to Cory/Robin relationship 2.0. This is a Grand Canyon/Evil Knievel Jump! No wonder we haven’t seen Cory yet.

Well, they were together for a while in version 1.0, too. They weren’t exactly angry raccoons but they were… something.

How far away is Cory attending school from Robin and the rest of the cast?

Timely question. We’re gonna find out more about Cory and Robin in the coming weeks.

Rutting like raccoons made me at first think that Kevin beating the monkey was a reference to well, you know. But I’m very immature when it comes to humor.

Now that Kevin 2.0 is so much like Cory 1.0, I hope Cory 2.0 turns out to have a distinct new personality, maybe as the somewhat feistier guy he seemed to be becoming toward the end of the old strip. I do wish that Kevin 2.0 would evolve back closer to his old self; I can’t get used to his face with Cory 1.0’s personality.

LOL Bro…you got it moving like Usain Bolt with this story line! I absolutely loved how you pulled it all together and while I normally would not like the purple text bubble it totally works here. It makes Robins lines stand out and it’s very clear it’s her not Dana. I about bust out laughing over the beat that monkey line…gotta agree with Bryan on that, but it’s Dana’s eyes squeezed shut that seals the deal. But it’s that sad look she gives him in the last panel got me thinking she is going to help him forget about being angry and make his eyes pop wide shut…ok now it’s starting to make me think of Sophomore year, time to shut up! Great job Corey you get 4 thumbs up.

Don’t defame us old farts (of which I am one) and tar us all with the same paint brush. it’s the HTTC (holier than thou Christians) nipple and bum crack police that seem to be controlling the American media who are being catered to. I am also fed up with blurring and beeps on t.v. Where the live audience is in on the joke and I am left scratching my head.

And so ‘nipple and bum crack police’ was added to my personal vocabulary.

Just wanted to mention I thought it was touching when Robin 1.0 told Cory 1.0 that he mattered to her [at the end of the 1st strip].
